Volunteer!
Volunteering at Wallerween is a scream!
Shifts are one eerily easy hour long, and involve either staffing street barricades or running carnival games. We need to cover a total of 50 shifts between 5:00 PM–10:00 PM: (5 barricade staffers and 20 game helpers).
Sign up at the bottom of the page if you can help. We'll be in touch the week before Halloween with details about your shift.

Street Barricades
- You'll be assigned to a specific intersection for a one-hour time slot (ex: 5:00 PM–6:00 PM)
- We'll pair you with another volunteer so you'll have some company
- You'll get a cool vest and hand-held traffic sign to make you look all official
- You'll point any confused drivers or bikers to the detour through Haight/Steiner/Scott
- If a resident's car needs to come in or out, you'll guide them through the closed street
Carnival Games
- You'll be assigned to a game station for a one-hour time slot (ex: 5:00 PM–6:00 PM)
- We'll fill you in on the rules for your game and restock prizes as needed
- You'll help run the game, hand out prizes, and keep the line moving
- No vest or sign needed here—just plenty of happy, Halloweeny energy
Volunteer Perks
- Tell us if you have a preference for time/role/intersection/street barricade buddy, and we'll do our best to make it happen
- Score some snacks and other festive goodies
- Get to know your fellow neighborhood volunteers a little better!
